Frequently Asked Questions
- What size flag is
best for my upright ground set flagpole?
The measurement of
the long side of the flag should be approxiametely 1/4 to 1/3 the
height of the vertical, ground set pole. For example, a 20 foot above
ground pole would require a 3x5 ft or 4x6 ft flag. 25 foot pole =
4x6 ft flag. 30 ft pole = 5x8 ft flag. 35 ft pole = 5x8 ft or 6x10
ft flag. 40 ft pole = 6x10 ft or 8x12 ft flag, and so on. Recommended
flag fabric for upright poles is nylon, or polyester for extremely
windy locations.
- What size flagpole
and bracket should I use to display my flag?
We recommend
a 5 ft flagpole for a 2x3 ft or 2.5x4 ft flag, and a 6 ft pole for
a 3x5 ft flag. Flags larger than 3x5 ft are generally too large for
pole and bracket display. 3x5 ft flags are attractive on medium to
large size homes and 2x3 ft or 2.5x4 ft are more proportionate for
smaller homes. Use any 1 inch bracket that you prefer with any 1 inch
pole, or a 3/4 inch bracket with a 3/4 inch pole. Typically decorative
flags are hung horizontally or slightly tipped up in an adjustable
bracket, and traditional style flags, such as U.S, nations, military
and historic are displayed at an angle.

- Where are your flags
made?
All of the United States Flags we carry have always been and will
always be made in the United States of America of American made, top
quality fabrics,
as are our historic, military, religious, and international flags.
Most, but not all, of the decorative flags we carry are also made
in the USA of
American made fabrics, or sewn elsewhere of American made fabrics.
- How long will my
outdoor flag last?
This question has no precise answer. Flag wear depends on many factors
such as wind, rain, snow, pollution, sun exposure, etc. These conditions
vary with altitude, location and height of flagpole, etc. The U.S.
government requires flags last at least 6 weeks. Our United States
flags meet or exceed these standards. We have customers whose flags
last several months to as long as several years. You can extend the
life of your flag by having several which are rotated. Wash your flag
when it becomes soiled. Be sure it is thoroughly dry before storing.
Check for fraying and rehem at the first sign of wear.
